An opening touchdown drive was impressive, but aided by two personal foul penalties, and a fumble recovery only led to three points. When the Bills recovered a second strip-sack, it felt like the only way they could keep the Vikings at bay would be to capitalize on the possession with another touchdown. And that’s just what Brian Daboll and Josh Allen delivered, with a pass to tight end Jason Croom. Before running this play, the Bills had passed once to a running back in the flats, and had a receiver in the flats on three of their first five passing plays. As such, the Vikings were looking for that sort of movement, especially when the Bills fell behind schedule and would conceivably look to gain easy yardage on second-and-11. Minnesota, seeing Buffalo’s pre-snap motion, dialed up a Cover-3 “sky” look. In the GIF below Youth Kelvin Benjamin Jersey , see how two Vikings point to the sky as the ball is snapped. They see the running back in motion and want to aggressively attack the flat to try and take Buffalo out of field goal range. Instead, the Bills score a touchdown. Josh Allen makes a great show of looking to the flat, then quickly resets and throws to his wide open tight end. This is a great example of a coverage beater in football. The outside cornerback is in a bind—in a Cover-3, he should be covering a deep third of the field. But if he drops vertically, then there’s a risk that the post receiver will come open before reaching the center fielder. So the corner wants to bracket the receiver and follow him to the safety. But with this route combination, the wheel man will be open behind the outside corner. A safety or linebacker will have difficulty trailing any slot receiver down the sideline on that route, and when the action in the flat naturally draws the curl-flat safety toward the line of scrimmage, it’s easy pickings. Here’s the same play, this time from the end zone angle. You can see how the post receiver pulls his cornerback along toward the safety, opening up room for Croom. This is a concept that’s been useful for decades, and it’s in vogue right now in the NFL. Here’s a great breakdown from Chris Brown in 2012, when Dana Holgorsen employed it in a record-smashing offense at West Virginia. Now, what gave this play extra significance was that it represented an area of growth from Allen between Week 2 and Week 3. The Bills ran this exact same concept against the Chargers, but Allen flubbed it. It was clear, in watching his execution on Sunday Youth Tremaine Edmunds Jersey , that Allen did his homework after losing to Los Angeles, and drilled himself on properly reading this concept.Yes, the play ultimately ended with a 57-yard completion to Zay Jones. Still, this is an example of bad process, good results. Jones was wide open for most of this play, had to turn around to catch the pass, and the ball could have been intercepted. If Allen were more decisive and knew which players to read, he would’ve had a first down or a touchdown with ease.In Week three, we saw a more confident Allen on the field, and he shocked the Vikings (and Las Vegas) with an efficient, accurate quarterback performance. It was a positive stride for the rookie, and engenders hope that he’ll keep learning from his mistakes as his career continues.

Buffalo Bills need to find ways to get LeSean McCoy involved early If you take a look at the snap counts from Sunday’s disappointing 22-0 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field , you’ll find that LeSean McCoy was on the field for 60 percent (35 snaps) of the offensive plays. While Shady was on the field more than any other non-quarterback offensive skill player outside of wide receiver Zay Jones (53 snaps) and tight end Charles Clay (43 snaps), it’s what the Buffalo Bills did with their best offensive weapon that is most disturbing. McCoy, who has a proven track record as an explosive running back and a talented pass-catcher out of the backfield, touched the ball eight times in Buffalo’s (1-3) loss to the Packers (2-1-1). McCoy rushed five times for 24 yards and added three receptions (on six targets) for 13 yards. Factoring in plays where he was the intended target of a Josh Allen pass, McCoy’s number was called 11 times. Total. True, McCoy was most definitely on a pitch count in his first game back after a one-game absence caused by a ribs injury. Still, the lack of touches for McCoy—especially on a team clearly devoid of playmakers—is concerning. “It is frustrating,” McCoy told the media after the game. “I just want to win games. I want to get going myself. Just got to stay at it, I can’t get down, just have to be better as a group.”Sean McDermott, Buffalo’s second-year head coach, admitted he picked up on McCoy’s frustrations with the offense, which has scored 3, 20, 27, and 0 points in a roller-coaster start to the 2018 season. “Absolutely. I can understand why he’s frustrated,” McDermott told the media Monday. “There’s some rhythm in that. When you get three plays and you’re punting. That’s not a whole lot of opportunities, but within that, it’s the plan. Starting with the plan and getting into a rhythm then where you have the chance to go four , five, six plays whatever plays, whatever the play drives, and start to spread the ball around and get people into a rhythm and a flow.”Against the Packers, the Bills came out seemingly intent to feed their talented back, with Shady hauling in a seven-yard reception on the opening offensive play and adding a two-yard run, which set up a third-and-one. However, Chris Ivory was stuffed and Buffalo had to punt—a trend that would continue as the Bills offense went three-and-out on four of the first five possessions. After turning to McCoy on two of the first three plays, he touched the ball just six more times the rest of the day.Shady didn’t touch the ball on Buffalo’s second possession, and caught a two-yard pass and had Allen badly miss the mark on a third-down pass attempt to McCoy on the team’s third possession. McCoy contributed a four-yard run on the first play of Buffalo’s next possession, which ended in another three-and-out. He broke off a five-yard run on the ensuing possession but, again, the Bills were forced to punt as the offense never got into a rhythm against the Packers. The Bills finally managed to drive the ball before halftime, marching 60 yards in nine plays. On that drive, Shady was only targeted once—an incomplete pass—and the drive ended without points when Allen forced a pass into the end zone that was intercepted. If you’ve been keeping score: That’s 11 rushing yards on three carries and nine receiving yards on a pair of catches in the opening half. Remarkably, despite their failings in getting McCoy involved in the offense, the Bills only trailed by two scores (16-0) heading into the locker room. Trailing 19-0 early in the third, McCoy ripped off his longest run of the day, an 11-yard gain , on Buffalo’s first offensive play of the second half. Remarkably, it was only the third time all year (21 total carries) that McCoy had a run of 10-plus yards. All-told, McCoy has rushed for 85 yards on 21 carries (an average of 4.0 yards per carry) and has eight receptions for 41 yards. Those are numbers McCoy usually accumulates in one game.Hopefully another week means McCoy’s ailing ribs will have more adequately healed, because the Bills need their bell-cow running back at 100 percent. In McCoy, the Bills have the key to a premiere player capable of rescuing the team’s floundering offense—one loaded with unproven wide receivers and a rookie quarterback still learning to read NFL defenses. Apparently there isn’t much national appeal to watching Derek Anderson make his first career start for the Buffalo Bills. When Anderson, a 13-year veteran who signed with Buffalo on Oct. 9, leads the Bills (2-4) into action against the Indianapolis Colts (1-5), only fans living in the Buffalo and Indianapolis television markets will get to watch the game as CBS’ featured 1 p.m. Eastern telecast. This matchup between sub-.500 teams doesn’t carry much national intrigue, continuing a recent theme for the Bills. As was the case with Buffalo’s Week 5 home game against the Tennessee Titans, and the Week 6 road game against the Houston Texans, broadcast coverage of Sunday’s Bills/Colts showdown will be limited to the local markets. CBS’ No. 6 broadcasting team of Spero Dedes (play-by-play) and Adam Archuleta (analyst) will handle the Bills/Colts clash. The areas that can see Buffalo are highlighted in blue (map courtesy of 506sports):Most of the national audience gets to watch Tom Brady and the New England Patriots travel to the Chicago Bears (in red), while the other 1 p.m. CBS telecast pits the Houston Texans against the Jacksonville Jaguars (in green). This will be the 70th meeting all-time between these former AFC East rivals. Buffalo leads the all-time series 37-31-1, including prevailing 13-7 in overtime at snowy New Era Field on Dec. 10, 2017, a game the Bills won when LeSean McCoy rambled in from 21 yards out late in the overtime period. The last time the Bills traveled to Indianapolis, the Colts pulled out a 20-13 win on Nov. 25, 2012.

Right after Tommy La Stella struck out swinging for the final out Womens Lane Taylor Jersey , Jeremy Jeffress pounded his glove with his right hand and Erik Kratz pumped his right arm in jubilation.Forget about the wild-card standings. The Milwaukee Brewers are fighting for the NL Central title.Lorenzo Cain had four hits, Mike Moustakas scored on Carl Edwards Jr.'s wild pitch in the sixth inning and the Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 on Monday night to move within one game of the division leaders."That's a great team over there. They're not going to go away," Moustakas said. "They're not going to just give it up, so we've got to go out there every single day, keep fighting, keep grinding and go to win a ballgame each and every night."Orlando Arcia and Jonathan Schoop each drove in a run as Milwaukee (83-62) won for the seventh time in eight games. It's the closest the Brewers have been to the division lead since they trailed the Cubs by a game on Aug. 5.Milwaukee also battled Chicago for the NL Central title last season, but the Cubs pulled away down the stretch and the Brewers missed the playoffs. It looks as if the returning Brewers learned from what happened in 2017."I think being in the moment a year later helps these guys," manager Craig Counsell said. "You know how you feel because you feel different in these moments."Wade Miley (4-2) pitched five effective innings before Corbin Burnes, Josh Hader and Jeffress closed it out for wild card-leading Milwaukee. Burnes worked a scoreless sixth, Hader struck out six straight batters and Jeffress got three outs for his 11th save.Back home after a soggy weekend in Washington, Chicago (83-60) lost for the fifth time in seven games. Ben Zobrist had two of the Cubs' five hits, and Kris Bryant drove in a run."We've just not been making that kind of hard contact that we're capable of," manager Joe Maddon said. "So more than anything, that was tonight. You can dice it up any way you want, but just to score two runs again — we have to be more offensively."The game was tied at 2 when Maddon and a trainer came out to check on Jon Lester after the left-hander retired the first two batters in the sixth. Lester (15-6) stayed in the game after a short conversation, and the Brewers pounced.Moustakas singled and Kratz doubled to right, putting runners on second and third. Lester then departed with lower back tightness, and Moustakas scampered home when Edwards missed badly on his first pitch to Arcia .Moustakas said third base coach Ed Sedar told him to be on the lookout for a wild pitch."It happened and I was able to get down there and ended up scoring," Moustakas said Authentic Mike Daniels Jersey , "so it worked out pretty well for us."Lester allowed eight hits, struck out seven and walked two in his first loss since Aug. 11. The All-Star said he thinks his back will be fine."It's not anything painful, just kind of uncomfortable," he said. "After I got out of the game and came up here, I felt a lot better, and hopefully tomorrow will be the same."WORK, WORK, WORKChicago is in the midst of 30 straight game days after Sunday's series finale at Washington was rained out and rescheduled for Thursday. But Hurricane Florence is bearing down on the East Coast and the Cubs sound as if they are hoping for another postponement."It's (Major League Baseball's) call on something like this," president of baseball operations Theo Epstein said. "Our voices have certainly have been heard, but we don't have any control."ALL IN GOOD FUNBrewers bullpen catcher Marcus Hanel drew some boos and a few cheers from fans in the bleachers at Wrigley Field when he took off his warmup top before the game, revealing an Aaron Rodgers jersey. Rodgers directed the Green Bay Packers to a 24-23 comeback victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night.TRAINER'S ROOMCubs: OF Kyle Schwarber's back is bothering him "a little bit," according to Maddon. ... OF Jason Heyward (right hamstring tightness) ran on the field before the game. Asked if he will be able to play this month, Heyward responded: "We'll see. I'm just saying — I'm going to do everything necessary, obviously, to be smart about it. But I plan on playing baseball." ... Chicago closer Brandon Morrow (right biceps inflammation) played catch. He likely will have another bullpen session in the next couple of days. ... LHP Drew Smyly, who had Tommy John surgery in July 2017, will not return this season. Smyly is fine, but Epstein said the team ran out of time to bring him back.UP NEXTBrewers right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (14-6, 3.59 ERA) and Cubs lefty Jose Quintana (12-9 Authentic Jaire Alexander Jersey , 4.14 ERA) square off again Tuesday night. Quintana beat Chacin in their previous matchup, pitching two-run ball into the seventh inning of Chicago's 6-4 victory last Wednesday. Quintana is 5-2 with a 1.78 ERA in nine career starts against Milwaukee.Jay Cohen can be reached at ://jcohenapFootball Outsiders sees reasons for optimism with Packers guard Justin McCray The Green Bay Packers underwent an offseason of change not seen since 2006. The front office got an overhaul, as Ted Thompson handed over the reins to Brian Gutekunst and several longtime scouts departed. The coaching staff also looks very different after Mike McCarthy made changes at the offensive and defensive coordinator positions. There are also several spots in the starting lineup that will change from 2017, with some replacements coming internally and others resulting from new player acquisitions. Today, we will look at one of the former situations at the right guard position. Football Outsiders is known for their excellent work in football analytics, including the advent of the DVOA and DYAR stats (among many others). Once again, the analysts at FO have graciously agreed to hold a Q&A with us at Acme Packing Company, as Scott Kacsmar takes on our questions about the Packers.Stay tuned for the Q&A series running all week and check out Football Outsiders' website and store, where you can find their 2018 Almanac.APC: Justin McCray appears to have the inside track to start at right guard this season. How did he perform at guard last season, and what do you believe to be reasonable expectations for him in 2018?It's encouraging to think that McCray can be significantly improved with a full offseason of focus at a single position. Last year he was probably overvalued by the casual fan simply because he was able to perform adequately as an emergency replacement (few if any saw him even making it through final cuts). However, his level of play was little more than replacement-level overall.Still, McCray might well end up a plus run blocker, and if he can at least be adequate in helping to keep Rodgers upright, that is probably enough. Furthermore, Bryan Bulaga's early return from ACL surgery puts McCray squarely between a pair of veteran players who are among the best pass blockers at their positions (center Corey Linsley being on his other side). All told, don't expect McCray to contend for an All-Pro honor, but there is reason to hope that he will be solid enough to justify the Packers' decision to allow Evans to fade away towards retirement I stead of bringing him back for another run._Stay tuned for part two of our Q&A on Tuesday._

Why are the Packers refusing to put Josh Jones on the field? For one game Customized Green Bay Packers Jerseys , the Green Bay Packers appeared to have a superstar. Once again, Ted Thompson had hit on a second-round steal. Josh Jones was everywhere in Week 3 for the Packers last season, blowing up plays, coming downhill to make tackles, and destroying the Cincinnati Bengals off the edge on safety blitzes. But injuries to Morgan Burnett forced Jones out of position. And even once Burnett returned, it was the veteran playing Dom Capers’ Nitro position, not the better-suited Jones. Rookie issues with reads and man coverage were to be expected, especially for a player with a skill set that should put him more near the action, not patrolling the deep middle. Mike Pettine was supposed to come in and change that, putting Jones back where he belonged. This was, after all, a player Green Bay drafted and immediately said would play dime linebacker for the Packers. It was a tacit acknowledgement that the North Carolina State star safety should be in the box, coming downhill. Offseason work, mini-camps, and training camp came and went but Jones was running behind not only Kentrell Brice but undrafted free agent Jermaine Whitehead , who has actually turned into a nice player for Pettine’s defense as a versatile overhang defender. Where did things go so wrong for a player who was second on this team in snaps among defensive backs last season? Was it assignment problems? Was he not reading and reacting well enough? It’s difficult to speculate too much having not watched him in practice or been privy to his assignments play to play. When Pettine was asked about his safety group before the season, Jones’ name didn’t even come up. It’s clear the Packers viewed him as a limited player, someone belonging in the box.Okay, great. But when the season once again came around, the safeties struggled. No sign of Jones. The inside linebackers looked slow and out of position without Oren Burks. Jones remained stuck to the bench. Frustrations came out in a recent interview Jones gave where he said he wanted to work for his paycheck. Why would the team draft him in the second round if he wasn’t going to play? It seems obvious that a player with his athletic traits should have a place on this team. Special teams mistakes could be holding him back. Jones did play nearly 37% of special teams snaps last season. That’s seen as an essential piece of how he contributes on this team. But if that’s what’s holding him back from playing more, it’s the type of old school coaching mentality that has plagued Mike McCarthy over the years. Jones should be on the field over players like Antonio Morrison and Korey Toomer (!), the latter of whom has inexplicably getting snaps at times ahead of both Burks and Jones. The simple answer may just be Jones isn’t very good. Practice could be bearing that out. But given what we’ve seen from some of the players in the Packers defense, it’s hard to believe Jones couldn’t be a useful player in the three-safety looks Pettine loves. Every time Kentrell Brice misses another tackle, the cameras should zoom in on Josh Jones as he looks longingly into the distance, his thousand-yard stare saying all it needs to say. Frankly, this should be a question at every Mike McCarthy and Mike Pettine press conference. The next time Brian Gutekunst takes the podium, he should be getting at least one Josh Jones question as well. This is a physically gifted player with legitimate draft pedigree who played major snaps for the Packers just a season ago. And he flashed playmaking ability. Why has he fallen so far? This is a question worth asking, and it’s something for which this coaching staff and front office must answer for. Because if he isn’t eventually going to be given an opportunity, it makes Green Bay’s faith in its own players look faulty. Eric Reid, Kenny Vaccaro Green Bay Packers T-Shirt , Tre Boston, and other safety options were available in free agency. It’s possible the Packers traded their best safety to the Browns for a backup quarterback. (I understand talent wasn’t the reason for that trade, but still.) If they aren’t willing to give Jones a shot, there’s no way Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, in the final year of his deal, and two undrafted free agents — neither of whom have ever shown anything to suggest they’re quality starters — could have been enough. This is a simple calculation: if Josh Jones really isn’t good, then that shines an even brighter line on the team’s inaction at improving the safety position in the offseason and up to when Reid signed just a few weeks ago with the Panthers. And if Jones is good, or at least can be, why is he not getting opportunities? Either way, the Packers got this all wrong.Week 1 Fantasy Football Start/Sit Advice: Who to play or bench in the NFC North In fantasy football, Week 1 is a difficult week to forecast. Of course, there are the ones you should consistently start unless they’re on a bye, but there are always those who are still a mystery. New offenses, new coaches, and new weapons can raise a lot of question marks Green Bay Packers Hats , especially in Week 1. These teams could end up being anything! Before the season starts, we’re going to try our best to rationalize who to sit and who to start during the first week in the NFC North. We have one NFC North rivalry matchup, while Minnesota and Detroit have difficult games both inside and outside of the conference.StartsAaron Rodgers, QBBears @ PackersThis is a given, but needs to be acknowledged in light of the Bears’ acquisition of Khalil Mack. It’s a matchup that we could be talking about for years now. Mack is an all-world defensive player and it really perplexes me that Jon Gruden traded him out of Oakland. Seriously, if I’m power ranking defensive players it’d go: Aaron Donald, Mack, and Jalen Ramsey, in that order. But Mack doesn’t play defensive back, defensive tackle, or inside linebacker. What I’m saying is that the Bears didn’t fix their entire defense. While Mack may be able to elevate them, there are still other areas of opportunity for Rodgers to exploit them. And Aaron Rodgers has owned the Bears during his career to the tune of 42 touchdowns and just nine interceptions in 19 games.Adam Thielen, WR49ers @ VikingsDon’t be worried about starting Thielen against the Niners. Richard Sherman is the new top guy in San Francisco, but he’s coming off an Achilles injury. Those are tough to come back from even with today’s advancements. The backpedaling and the need to plant and change direction for a defensive back at age 30 is paramount to success. The Niners were still 27th in DVOA against WR1’s last year so that’s a long way to climb even with Sherman.Matthew Stafford, QBJets @ LionsIn case you waited for a deep round quarterback selection Green Bay Packers Hoodie , I hope you went with Stafford. The Jets shelled out good money for Trumaine Johnson this offseason, but he can’t cover Marvin Jones Jr., Golden Tate and Kenny Golladay all at once. Morris Claiborne is still the CB2 for the Jets, but he’s still not good. At home last season, Stafford threw 17 touchdowns and only three picks last season. There could be some early season rust, but being at home makes it easy for Stafford.SitsJamaal Williams, RBThis is the hill I’ve been willing to die on all offseason. Williams is fine, but I’m fading this option in Week 1. I think the Packers would be best served getting Rodgers acquainted/reacquainted with his pass catchers. While Williams may find the end zone, he only had three games over 100 all-purpose yards last season with one of those being 100 yards on the ground. I’m not expecting over four yards per carry.Allen Robinson II, WRBears @ PackersYou probably drafted Robinson to be a flex or WR2 which is great, but you’re counting on a lot to click right away with the Bears offense. Not only did the Bears add a ton of weapons, but they’re instituting a new offense with Mitchell Trubisky at the helm. Robinson also hasn’t played in a year after an ACL tear in week one of 2017. The Packers have a lot to be left desired with their secondary as well, but I’d want to start more of a sure thing.
The 5 O’Clock Club: Those compensatory picks are still looking good; how about the players that walked in free agency to get them for the Skins? The 5 o’clock club is published Wednesday to Saturday during the season Washington Redskins T-Shirt , and aims to provide a forum for reader-driven discussion at a time of day when there isn’t much NFL news being published. Feel free to introduce topics that interest you in the comments below.Compensatory picks look safeRedskins are still on track to get a 3rd, 5th, and two 6th round compensatory picks in next year’s draft according to OverTheCap.I thought it might be interesting to see what has happened so far to four of the players the Redskins allowed to walk in a free agency period that is on track to bring in the Redskins’ biggest ever haul of compensatory draft picks.Let’s start with a brief look at the highest profile player in the Redskins (outgoing) free agent class of 2018.A tie is like kissing your CousinsThe third round pick that will likely be awarded to the Redskins is for Kirk Cousins, whom the Redskins drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 draft. The Shanahans, and later Jay Gruden and Sean McVay, taught him to be an NFL quarterback, and developed him into his role as a 3-year starter. His 6-year journey with the Redskins took him from being an afterthought among NFL quarterbacks to the most discussed player and sought-after free agent in the 2018 off-season.Somehow, a 3rd round draft pick as recompense seems anticlimactic.Kirk Cousins was last seen throwing a loss-sealing interception with 97 seconds on the clock during the final drive against the Packers, in a scene that was eerily familiar to Redskin fans. But wait! There was a yellow flag, and a criminally negligent call of roughing the passer on Clay Matthews that gave the ball back to the Vikings offense. On three plays in the final 2 minutes of the game, Packers players got their hands on Kirk Cousins passes, but none, bar the disallowed interception, came down with possession to end the game. The Vikings and Packers went on to play the new shorter 10-minute overtime period.Cousins drove his team down to field goal range, and — with just seconds left in overtime, in a scene that must’ve been eerily familiar to Kirk Cousins — the Vikings kicker missed the field goal to end the division battle in a tie.I imagine we’ll see similar scenes from the Vikings and their $84m franchise quarterback (though not the same placekicker) all season, and the comparisons between the Vikings signal caller and Alex Smith will go on for years on Hogs Haven and elsewhere.Three more compensatory picksBut there were three other players not named Kirk Cousins who were instrumental in adding 2019 Redskins draft capital to the upcoming April draft.I found myself wondering how three players who were on the field for the Redskins this time last season — Ryan Grant, Terrelle Pryor and Spencer Long — are faring with their new teams.Grant, as you probably know, is playing for the Colts, and visited FedEx Field this past Sunday.Long and Pryor, meanwhile, are teammates with the Jets, and were last seen on Thursday night in the Battle for the Bud Lite.Dilly, dilly. For analysis on what’s been happening with these three ex-Redskins so far in the 2018 season, I turned to Chris West (@westcoast_skins) for some film review.Chris’ analysis of Grant Washington Redskins Hats , Pryor and LongRyan GrantThe crossing routeGrant versus the RedskinsChris’ bottom line on Ryan GrantWin-win.Terrelle PryorLet’s look at Pryor versus the DolphinsOne more play from PryorChris’ bottom line on Terrelle PryorIn fact, I suspect the front office will be downright tickled to get a 6th round pick as a reward for the monumental failure that the Pryor signing represented. Spencer LongTechnically, the loss of Spencer Long was offset by the signing of Paul Richardson in free agency; the 5th round pick the Redskins will likely be awarded is connected to Trent Murphy’s signing with the Bills, but Long actually played for the Redskins for part of the 2017 season, while Murphy — who was on IR all of last year — hasn’t been on the field for the Redskins since 2016.So I made a judgement call and asked Chris West to look at Spencer Long on film. Here’s what he had to say.Let’s look at his playLet’s look at one more play by Spencer LongChris’ bottom line on Spencer LongHow many fans would have been happy to see the front office spend another $4.4m to keep Long in burgundy and gold this year instead of relying on Lauvao?Looks Like Someone Has a Sixpack of the Mondays With training camp underway and real, live football players running around in the heat of July, I have turned into the guy so many of us turn into this time of year: the guy who lives in constant fear of terrible injury news. In the parlance of one of our newest voices on the site, Kevin Ricca, we have entered prime butt-clenching season. There is nothing on the line yet that gets represented in the win-loss column, and stats for real and fantasy purposes don’t count for another month. I know we all fancy ourselves as expert analysts, so digesting one-on-one drills to determine “how far along” players and schemes makes for a month of exhaustive debate. Don’t get me wrong—I will filibuster for days on what it means when I see Alex Smith dropping bombs on Josh Doctson deep down the field. I will wax philosophic on linemen drills like it’s nobody’s business. Still...the number one item on the news menu every single day between now and September is injury updates. That’s it.Was it always this way? I ask the question because I know some of you are in the same boat as our recent guest, Kevin Hogan. You have grown up in the big money, staggering contracts, free agency buffet era. Some of us (kind of me, but also not really me) recall a time when this wasn’t necessarily the case. Injuries are nothing new of course. Football is a violent and dangerous sport, but a few CBA’s ago, the injury news didn’t feel this intense. If you’re out there and think this is wrong, please tell us. I remember Joe Gibbs seeming to have an extra 50 players stashed all over the place, so the roster limits and rules have certainly played a part in the way that injuries impact your team. In the small town where I grew up, they hadn’t even run cable everywhere yet, so network news received by over-the-air antennas is really my earliest memory of following the Redskins. There was a nice staggering between NBC, ABC and CBS (the Fox network wasn’t even founded until 1986) so you could flip around and get all the camp updates from guys like Glen Brenner, Tim Brant and George Michael (to be fair...I was really young for this!). While I am sure there were bad news days, mostly I just recall joint practices/scrimmages with the Pittsburgh Steelers and updates on top draft picks. For those of you who are at least a little older than me, were you living in fear during the day, hoping that it wouldn’t be bad news that night Washington Redskins Womens Hoodie , or was it just kind of a tiny portion of the daily sports report, without the high drama and clenching?Tim gets a little uncomfortable when the conversation harps too much on the clenching, and therefore so do many of you, but you get the point. There is this odd feeling that every day without an injury is a day where you kind of dodged something. I guess it might also be something unique to those of us who care so much about football and the Redskins specifically. We understand very well what it means when we see the letters A, C and L.There is a bright and shiny side of the coin here though: some smaller injuries could actually keep a player off the field as a precaution, saving him for the fall. In the case of Da’Ron Payne, his ankle injury is nothing to sneeze at, as it could easily turn into a nagging nightmare. It could also heal fully with some rest, and I am not seeing much of anything out there that suggests our mountain of a nose tackle won’t be ready for the Cardinals. In my opinion, I read the Payne news as, “Take two to three weeks off of worrying about Payne news.” See? We’re boldly hoping already!Focusing for a moment on themes we have been covering leading up to training camp, I know I am joined by the rest of you in being excited to see Jordan Reed healthy. As much fun as Alex Smith would have divvying up targets between Josh Doctson, Jamison Crowder, Paul Richardson, Chris Thompson, Derrius Guice and Vernon Davis, when you add in a Jordan Reed, things are just plain different. The trick of course will be how Jay Gruden keeps him both involved yet fresh in the weeks ahead. Is there a player other than Reed that you would be completely fine with seeing in street clothes until week one? (You will potentially be shocked at how emotional of a debate this becomes.) Would anyone out there understand why I am nicknaming Jordan Reed “Sgt. Hulka” or is that movie reference too obscure? (We’re talking Bill Murray here, people.)Let’s spend the last point here on a conversation-starter in the rarified air of preseason NFL trades. One thing I have been harping on leading up to this preseason is the fact that the talent in the middle and bottom of our roster is such that we have players right now in burgundy and gold that will almost certainly be playing for someone else this season. This is in stark contrast to the days when the Redskins marked the terminal stop for many players. If you got cut from the Redskins in years past, you were probably not expecting any other team to want you. If it is true we have guys who belong in the league that might not make our roster, should we be getting aggressive with trying to make a trade? I am certain plenty of other franchises feel the same way about their teams, and there are still some solid veterans that remain unsigned. Still, for a moment, let’s pretend the Redskins are getting calls about...who? Who would be willing to move and what are you looking for? Are you willing to try and go blockbuster-style, or are you just thinking an extra 5th or 6th rounder in the pocket would be pretty damn good?P.S. I am still getting used to seeing #10 on the field. When that occurs, expect a few things to go down. The most obvious would be those map changes: we do not know exactly what's going to happen, but at buy fortnite materials  point we've got a fairly good idea. Expect something to occur involving the giant rift in the sky, though that will probably be in the form of a opening cinematic.

It is going to likely spit out three big new things of interest together Japanese, Western and Viking topics, or lead them to materialize in different ways. There will most likely be a bunch of other map changes as well, but that seems like it'll be the big one.

There'll also be a new battle pass, and that's exactly what these seasons are all about, after all. You'll need to purchase it if you would like to partake, but it is going to come with a whole lot of new skins and other cosmetics themed around what looks to be some type of time travel theme, even though there's always some wildcards as well.

I have, in my Fortnite account at the moment, the best treasures that Season 4 has to offer. Well, the majority of them, at least. I possess the Visitor skin in the Blockbuster Challenge, which I got for finishing seven complete weeks of challenges.

And I have the fully upgraded Carbide skin, finish with color-changing lighting. I have the nearly fully-upgraded Omega epidermis, not complete with color-changing lights. And I've got a whole lot of stuff I picked up involving: Valor, Squad Leader, a bunch of contrails and more.

You naturally will get the pig as you do a couple of the first preliminary quests you are given when you begin the game and also pass the tutorial. It will automatically be equipped at the end of the pursuit, but I will go over how to do this, too.

Gracias.
